Eight years of service in the field of education, with a humble beginning in 2012, has been tremendous with the blessings endowed upon us by our Governing Deity Sree Dharma Sastha. Following the footsteps of N.V.K.S. Senior Secondary School, we have been constantly striving to maintain the legacy and at the same time create a distinctive image for N.V.K.S.Vidyalaya as a learning centre of excellence with a humane touch. It is with utmost pride I stand here to present the Annual Report for the Academic Year 2019-2020.
Our pupils of Pre-KG to VII Std walked into the school with new energy and enthusiasm to commence the new academic year that filled with new dreams and hopes, on 6th June 2019.
Success of any institution lies in the hands of a leader who leads the team with enthusiasm, dedication and sincerity. I am proud to say that we under the able leadership and guidance of Adv.S.Krishna Kumar Secretary of N.V.K.S. Educational Society and the team of committee members moving ahead on the path of growth with each passing year.
The second floor of the school building with eight spacious classrooms and a staff room with good infrastructure facility has been inaugurated by the management in this academic year.
We are happy to announce you that the school got NOC from State Government and is Recognised by Govt. of Tamilnadu. The staff strength has increased with the appointment of 15 new teaching staff including karate and band masters and 4 non-teaching staff. Conveyance facility has improved with the addition of two new school buses. The management is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the children get the best facilities possible.
Education, like the mass of our age's inventions, is after all, only a tool; everything depends upon the workman who uses it. The work man in the field of education is a teacher. Teachers should be updated if they don't want to be out dated, keeping this in mind our teachers are exposed to various training programmes.
A three day orientation programme for teachers on English Language skills was organized by the Management on 27th to 29th May 2019 in N.V.K.S Higher Secondary School. Dr.B.Saviour Dhas, Associate Professor of English, St.Jude's College, Thoothoor and Mr.Bennet, Resource Teacher, SSA served as the resource persons.
A content enrichment programme by Oxford publications for teachers of English and Mathematics department of our school was held on 13th June 2019.
Maths teachers of our school attended a one day training programme on Lab activities organized by NIIT at N.V.K.S Higher Secondary School on 27 July 2019.
Teachers of KG section of the school attended a one day training programme on Activity Based Learning organized by Password Publications held at N.V.K.S Higher Secondary School on 13 September 2019.
Science teachers of our school Mrs.Rajalekshmi and Mrs.Prabitha.P.N of our school have attended a CBSE Capacity Building Programme on Life Skills held at The Rajas International School, Nagercoil on 5 October 2019.
The school in collaboration with Art of Living, Kuzhithurai has organized a six day yoga class for our teachers from 21/10/2019 to 26/10/2019. All the teachers of our school practiced yoga and get benefited.
In the evolving world of today, the holistic development of the child is accorded great importance and hence, co curricular activities play an important role in the school curriculum. To ensure maximum participation, a large number of activities and competitions are organized in the school. The school assembly is conducted every day, giving them an opportunity to overcome stage fear, learn new things and develop confidence in themselves.
We celebrate all the festivals with special programmes and contests. Apart from various inter-house competitions, the school gives multiple opportunities for the students to participate and compete in inter school events also.
YMCA, Marthandam has organized various competitions on 2nd September 2019. Our students actively participated and won various prizes.
Bhagavat Gita Shastra Prachara Trust organized Gita Chanting competition on 8th September 2019. R.L.Raghavan from grade V bagged the first prize, S.R. Gayatri from grade III and U.J.Gayatri from grade V got second prize and M.J.Hrishikesh from grade VI won third prize.
Global Event Managers, Chennai conducted a Drawing Competition on 07/09/2019. A good number of students from our school participated in it and won prizes.
An inter-school competition was organized by Vivekanda Kendra at Hindu Vidyalaya Hr.Sec.School Marthandam on 12/10/2019. Our students participated in the competition and won prizes.
Student of our school participated and won prizes in a District level Talent Hunt competitions organised by the Rotary Club at Sigma College of Architecture, Moododu on 8th and 9th November 2019
N.V.K.S. Higher Secondary school jointly with NIIT MLSL has organized an Interschool IT Fest, Whiz Quiz and Maths Exhibition on 23rd November 2019. Our students participated in it and brought laurels to the school.
Kanyakumari District Malayala Samajam has organized various individual and group competitions on 27th and 28th November 2019. 11 students from our school have participated in different competitions and won the Overall Championship in Primary Junior and Primary Senior level.
Annual school Art, Literary and Music competitions were held from 11th December 2019 to 13th December 2019. Our students participated with vigor and energy in all the events.
Our students showcase their talents in the Bhakti Ganamela organized by N.V.K.S.Dewasom at Vettuvenni Kandan Sastha temple on 15th January 2020 on occasion of Makara Vilakku.
Our school encourages students to participate in different competitive exams conducted by various external organizations, so that they can get exposed to the competitive exam patterns.
Tamil Nadu Science Forum has organized 'Thulir Awareness Talent Test 2019' on 08th November 2019. 30 students of our school participated in it.
Shakespeare Institute of English, Chennai has organized Universal Talent Search Examination on 7/11/2019.426 students from our school participated and won prizes. J.U.Abhishika from VII STD got II place and S.K.Shashmi of II STD got III place in the State Level.
'Ascent Competitive Exam (ACE) 2019' was held on 7/12/2019, 294 students from our school participated in it and won prizes. 3 students got Green Scholar Award, five students got ACE Star Award and 14 students got ACE Masters.
Kerala Hindi Prachar Sabha organised Sugam Hindi Examination on 02/11/2019. 61 students attended the exam. All the students passed the exam and Amrith S.S. of V STD won III Rank in the stale level.
We believe that every chance to learn is a step towards better future. The school in collaboration with the Kerala Hindi Prachar Sabha conducts various certificate courses for the students. A good number of students of III to VII Std enrolled for the courses and attended the exam on 8th February 2020.
This year we have opened JRC unit in our school. 18 students of our school joined as volunteers of JRC. The classes are conducted every Thursday the JRC Counsellors of our school are Mr.N.Jagadish, Executive member, Thiruvattar Educational District JRC and Mrs.Athira, Physical Instructor of our school.
JRC of Thiruvattar Educational District has celebrated Geneva Day with various competitions and Rally on 2nd August 2019. The rally was inaugurated in our school and ended at Kids Oxford Matric School, Kuzhithurai. Our students participated in the competitions and won prizes. Mr.N.Jagadish, JRC Counsellor was awarded the Best Counsellor Award from Mrs. Saranya Ari IAS, Assistant Collector, Padmanabhapuram.
A 3 day camp was held at Vivekanda Kendra, Kanyakumari from 17th to 19th October 2019. JRC volunteers from our school participated under the guidance of Mr.N.Jagadish and Mrs. Athira.
9 JRC volunteers from our school attended the District Level Certificate test at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School, Marthandam, on 27/11/2019. All the students passed the test and are eligible for the State level test.
Our school has started Scout and Guides wing in this academic year with 21 scouts and 7 guides. Regular classes for Scouts & Guides are held every Monday. Scout Masters, Mr.N.Jagadish (Assisstant Organising Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides, Thiruvattar Educational District) conducts the classes.
A one day scout & guide camp was held at N.V.K.S. Higher Secondary School Attoor. Our students attended the camp.
Our Scout Master, Mr.N.Jagadish has received a State award and long service medal in recognition of meritorious service in Scout & Guides on 26th January 2020 from the Education Minister of Tamilnadu, Thiru. K.A.Senkotaiyan, at Bharat Scouts and Guides Head Quarters, Chennai.
On 14/02/2020 and 15/02/2020 inter school competitions for the scouts and guides, was held at the Govt. Higher Secondary School Kaliyal. Our students participated in it and won prizes.
To ensure that the students are socially aware of our surroundings, our school conducts health and social awareness programmes every year.
De-worming Day was organized on 8th August 2019 by distributing the de-worming tablets to all the students.
The Tetanus Diptheria Vaccination camp was held in our school with the support of the Primary Health Center, Kuzhithurai on 09th November 2019, Students were vaccinated in the camp.
To spread awareness and precaution against prevention from frequent fever, Nilavembu Kashayam was given to the students in co-ordination with the Muncipality, Kuzhithurai.
A short film with the message on Importance of Education was played on the occasion of Children's Day.
The Fire Department, Kuzhithurai on Ocassion of Deepavali, conducted a Fire and Safety Programme for our children to spread awareness and teach them to be cautious while using crackers. They also taught the children the safety measures to be adopted in case of any fire accident.
Our school offers variety of activities to enhance and bring out the innate talents of our students. Specially trained teachers are conducting classes for Dance, Music and Art.
Physical development supports mental and cognitive development, especially in young children. Sports and games help the children to improve self-concept and discipline; it makes them team players and trains them to be good leaders.
The annual sports day for the year 2019-'20 was held on 6th February 2020. The Sports Day was presided over by Adv.S.Krishna Kumar, Secretary of N.V.K.S. Educational Society and Shri. P.Sreedharan Nair, Vice-President of N.V.K.S. Educational Society hoisted the school flag. The declaration of sports meet open was officiated by Mr. K.P.Kannan, Physical Director, N.V.K.S.D. College of Education.The Management Committee members graced the occasion with their valuable presence. Various track events were held and prizes were distributed for the winners.
The house system was introduced this academic year to foster team spirit, healthy competition, sportsmanship; and character development. The houses for the academic year are Bharadwaj, Viswamitra, Kapila and Chanakya. All the students and teachers are assigned one of the four houses. The leadership of each house consists of faculty captain and vice captain. Each house is lead by a Boy Captain and a Girl Captain. Many competitions are held and the points are rewarded to each house. All the competitions are open to all.
'Reading Makes a man perfect'. Library opens the world of reading and books to the children. Our library is a hub of knowledge with the vast number of books, magazines and periodicals. The new spacious library is being set up on the second floor with more number of new books and periodicals being added to it and will be opened to our students very shortly.
To enhance the newspaper reading habit, our students are encouraged to subscribe 'The New Indian Express' newspaper at a subsidized rate. Our students of IV to VII Std were also encouraged to subscribe for the Children's Digest a monthly periodical to enhance their reading skills.
A Child's growth and development is the joint effort of the parents and teachers. It is very essential that the parent and the teacher confide in each other their expectations and concerns about their child. The school is meticulously following the practice of Teacher Parent monthly meetings on second Saturdays. It is the collective effort that contributes to the achievement of the desired goals.
We all are proud of India's diversity; we consider the diversity as our identity of unity. Our festivals and celebrations mark this diversity. In our school we celebrate the National and other festivals to make our children learn about our cultural and national heritage and be proud of our country.
We celebrated the International Yoga Day on 21st June 2019. A special assembly was held with messages about importance of yoga followed by a demonstration of yoga asana by our students.
Kamarajar's Birthday was marked with speech on Kamarajar and elocution competition was conducted and prizes were distributed.
Independence Day was celebrated with pride and patriotism. Dr. V.Sreedevi, HOD of Maths Department of N.I. Arts and Science College, Kumarcoil was the Chief Guest of the day. She unfurled the national flag and gave a very good message to our students. Cultural programmes were held as part of the celebration.
Teacher's Day was celebrated by paying tribute to Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan with a beautiful speech, poem and group song dedicated to the teachers by our students.
Onam was celebrated with pomp and gaiety. Inter house floral Rangoli competition was conducted along with various cultural programmes.
Children's Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm. Students participated in the events with great zeal and zest.
Republic Day was celebrated with utmost patriotism. National Flag was hoisted and Republic day message was given by the principal followed by sweet distribution.
"If you have a dream, chase it; rest not, until you achieve it".
An efficient management with a visionary leader is the biggest asset of our school. Our school has registered with the C.B.S.E Board and will be affiliated in the coming academic year 2020-2021.
A well furnished Language Lab and a Composite Lab will be set up for the next academic year.
The work is in progress in setting up of Kids park, spacious playground and front entrance of the school and will be opened for use by the upcoming academic year.
We are drowning in information and severely starving for wisdom today. The fast pace of life is becoming a routine where relations, traditions and culture is being lost. Our school provides education for character formation which will ultimately make each child realize the worth of everything around us. The school management ensures an updated learning environment without compromising on the Indian traditional, social and cultural values.
I avail this opportunity today to express a heartfelt thanks to our school management led by the Secretary Adv.S.Krishna Kumar, for their trust in our hard work and self reliance and for their constant support and guidance in all sorts of activities.
We remain grateful to all the parents for reposing their unparalleled trust in us which propels us to march ahead with greater commitment and enthusiasm. The blessings endowed by our Governing Deity Nalloor Vettuvenni Kandan Shastha, in this humble journey of ours is immense and immeasurable.
